08. The Passing away of Sri Kamakoti Sastrigal

Om Sathguru Sri Seshadri Swamigal Thiruvadikkae

Sri Kamakoti Sastrigal trained Seshadri on the Sastras. Seshadri mastered the entire Vedantha Sastras within a year. Sastrigal also taught him the secret lore of Mantra Sastras inherited from the ancestors in accordance with the code of Sage Agasthya.

Sri Kamakoti Sastrigal’s aura (Mahima) was infinite. He was an important recipient of the Devi’s grace. He was totally unattached to worldly life. He lived in the Vazhur village. He had imparted knowledge of various mantras to many people. Sri Kamakoti Sastrigal attained his 80th year. The Tehsildar of Vandavashi, Sri Venkatasubbaiar (Grandfather of Sri C.P.Ramaswami Iyer- Dewan of the South Travancore Samasthan) requested Sastrigal to deliver a discourse on Sri Ramayana and the Bhagavatham. Sastrigal said that he would ask Seshadri to deliver the lecture. Then the family shifted to Vandawashi.

Seshadri delivered discourses on Sri Ramayana and Bhagavatham for one whole year.

When the discourses were ongoing, Sastrigal took ill and settled at Damal, near Kanchipuram. Ten days after reaching the village Sri Kamakoti Sastrigal (Brahmananda Saraswathi Swamigal) breathed his last.

His Samadhi Srine (Brindavan) at the bank of Sarpa River is still maintained at Damel (Damel is about 10 kms away from Kanchipuram).
